A Temporary Normal (update: All ebooks still .99! Happy Reading!)

Have you found it yet? A temporary normal amid all this change? I haven't either, but I don't think it's our fault. Something seems to change every. single. day. We don't have time to get ouIt started with my husband's business trip canceling and it's been a steady slope of change ever since. As it sits now, we have school work for one child and will pick up another child's tomorrow. Our third is homeschooled so he's out of luck on much change! He doesn't seem to mind. Our church has been focusing on a home-centered-church-supported theme the past year and a half or so. We are really putting that to the test with all meetings canceled which certainly changes a lot for this family.

For the most part, I've really not minded these changes. In fact, with each new change I breathe a little easier. I guess I'm in that "training-for-this-all-my-life," camp. Still, late at night when the kids are asleep and the house is quiet, my mind begins to spin and worry creeps in. Worry for my mother, my Aunt who is battling cancer, my friend also battling cancer, and more, along with irrational fears that I won't give a voice to. At least not until you tell me yours!

I have seen a bright side to all this. Our community has pulled together so quickly providing meals for kiddos who may go hungry without school meals, teachers and administrators working so quickly and efficiently preparing school work for our kiddos, and businesses donating money so packets of school work can be printed for those who can't print them at home, just to name a few. It's all been awe-inspiring to say the least. We feel so blessed to be a part of this small, tight-knit community.

I wish I had a brilliant idea to change the world and send my own piece of love and help out in a totally helpful, non-threatening nor covid-19 spreading way! I don't. But, turns out I have a TINY thing I CAN do. I've lowered the price of all three books in the Ordinary Series to 99 cents. That's the lowest Amazon will let me go and retain my copyright. So, if you're looking for an action-packed, love story, young adult fantasy novel for you or someone you love, head on over to amazon by clicking the links on my sidebar. I plan on keeping them at that price for at least two weeks (probably longer. Seems like we are in this for a while). Feel free to spread the word!

I hope you all find and settle in quickly to a temporary normal and find peace and comfort during this crazy time. I hope you feel my love and prayers. And I hope you enjoy The Ordinary Series!

Epilepsy Update

I scrolled through my posts this afternoon and clicked on Here we go again. I'm so glad I took the time to write all of that down. Those feelings and fears have somewhat faded. I don't flash to his tonic-clonic seizure when I sweep that part of the kitchen or put shoes in their cubby anymore. I leave him home now without too much thought. The thought is always, always there, but I pray every day to help keep him safe and allow him as much normal as possible at the same time. However, reading through it all brought me right back to that moment and reminded me of the emotional journey we've been all been on. That truly was just the beginning and I decided to take a minute and give a little update.

I'm happy to report Kaleb has not had any seizures since that night. He is just over eight months seizure free. I used to count the time Kaleb was seizure free as if it meant something. I felt the longer he went without a seizure, the chance of having another one went down. I learned the hard way that wasn't necessarily the case. Kaleb had been four years seizure free (two off meds). I thought he'd outgrown them. I thought we had gone through the seizure woods and stepped into the seizure-free-for-life sunshine. I was wrong. At one of our neuro appointments, our doctor told us that when it is someone's time to have a seizure they will have a seizure. To make matters worse, we never know if the meds worked and stopped working and a seizure occurred or if the meds never worked and it just wasn't that person's time to have a seizure. How am I supposed to wrap my head around that piece of information? I'm not sure I ever will. But, for now, he is seizure free and I'm grateful for that. He's driving again and living a normal life. I am terrified. Not gonna lie.

The road to now has not been easy. The meds the ER started Kaleb on is called Keppra. If you are in the epilepsy world at all, you've probably heard the term Keppra Rage. Our neurologist described it as an emotion magnifier. It took everything he was feeling and poured gasoline on it. He was hurting so much. It was heartbreaking and so very difficult for everyone. I won't go into details of that time here. It isn't really a place I want to revisit. However, I don't want to forget it either. It was such a difficult, dark time and some days I wasn't sure how we were all going to get through it. It. was. hard. But you know what? We made it through. We walked through it and I think we are all better for it. We spoke with our neurologist about changing his meds and began the switch. However, it ended up being a two-month process. You can't just stop one and start another. Slowly the rage left and he worked through what he was going through without the extra emotional fuel. He also reconnected with his birthmom during that time and I think it brought him a peace he really needed. That's an entirely different post that I most likely won't share--it's his story to tell.

Kaleb had six-month check with his neuro this week. I had six months worth of questions and one was if these new seizures were related to his first diagnosis or completely different. (He was diagnosed with childhood-onset absence seizures and in Feb 2018 he had partial complex and a tonic-clonic). He said Kaleb was just unlucky because most don't have both. That sucks. I'm really not complaining, though. So many live with uncontrolled seizures and deal with so much more. I keep you all in my prayers, by the way. I truly do. You fight the battle every single day and night. We call you warriors for a reason.

So, in our home, we live like epilepsy isn't hanging out in the closet, waiting for a moment to strike. We set alarms to help remember to take meds and send texts threatening to call 911 if he doesn't respond. Seriously, kid. You need to respond! ;) We make plans to go to the beach and spend hours attempting to figure out geometry while we countdown to the end of high school math! We watch for signs, hug our children tight, and pray our epilepsy guest stays comfortable in the closet.

Facelift

I gave The Ordinary a tiny facelift.

I really love it. I changed the font. It doesn't look like a horror book now. I actually never thought of it as a horror-looking book, but my teenager sure did. After he mentioned it did, that's all I could see. I was hesitant to change it since copies had been sold, but I decided it was time. What do you think?

I also added a sneak peek of THE HEIR at the end of the ebook version. I may include it in the paperback version as well. Do authors do that in paperback? I'm having a hard time remembering now that I mainly read ebook!

Courtney's Reads Author Interview

A couple weeks ago Courtney, over on Courtney's Reads, contacted me and asked if I'd like to do an interview on her blog. Um, yes, please! It was fun answering her questions and sharing some of the goings on in my brain! So much fun! Click here to check it out. Thanks Courtney!

On another note...sort of...Courtney is an avid reader, reviewer, AND author. You can check out her Worlds with Ruby here!

Clips

We moved to our little town nine and a half years ago. Up until then, we'd had T-Mobile as our carrier for...years. Probably ten years before that. But, our little T-Mobile did not have good service in our area. We struggled for a year or two not willing to give up the amazing price. Too many failed and dropped calls later, we caved.

Enter Verizon. My husband got a work discount, but it was still much higher than T-Mobile. Much higher. It was sad but we did really enjoy the coverage we received.

Every now and again we would stop back into T-Mobile and they would pull up our address on their coverage map and we slowly watched it fill in. Last Saturday we stopped in again and were pleasantly surprised. The difference between Verizon and T-Mobile wasn't significant enough we felt we couldn't switch! Yay. Doing so would not only pay off almost $1000 in phones but drop our bill by almost $100 a month and give us unlimited data (we had 12 something or other...I need to pay closer attention to details!). Oh and free Netflix for life.

We made the switch, but one thing we hadn't counted on was needing to purchase a new phone for my daughter. In order to move it to T-Mobile, it needed to be a 6s or higher. She had a 6 plus. It was on its last leg anyway. It wouldn't work half the time and randomly called people. And it never randomly called her mother. Rude.

The solution to our little predicament landed me with a new iPhone 8. My husband knew I'd enjoy the camera (He is the sweetest!!) and insisted I take the new phone. This leads me to CLIPS! Maybe I missed that little gold mine on my iPhone 7, but I don't think so. I. Love. That. Thing. Mainly because I'm easily entertained and that thing is definitely entertaining me.

That being said, I'm going to upload a little something I made for my husband last night...that so sounds different than what I mean! Haha. He teaches an evening class about an hour away on Tuesdays. My youngest has been really sick and needed some extra snuggles which means my house is falling apart. Which is fine. I'd rather snuggle my baby, but it was a great opportunity to have a little fun. This is what I sent him. My only regret is not seeing him watch it.

Goodreads Giveaway Wrap-up

The Goodreads giveaway for The Heir ended a few days ago. 521 people entered the giveaway, which is pretty ironic because 521 highway is where I spend most of my life! It connects my little town with what I like to call civilization! Ha! Don't get me wrong. I adore this small town and the people in it, but sometimes this city girl just needs a Target. But, I digress...

I sat down today and wrote a little note to send to the lucky winner. Her book and my note are already on their way to her house. I hope she feels the love in the pages of the book and the little note I sent. In a little over two days, I'll send another note along with The Ordinary to another lucky winner. Truth be told, I wish I could send a little note to all my readers. I often wonder if all authors feel such gratitude for those who take the time to read their work. I have always been hesitant to "pester" authors of books I love but now, being on this end, I think I'll do more pestering because hearing from a reader? Well, in my humble opinion, that's not pestering at all. Not. at. all.

Happy reading! And head on over HERE if you haven't entered the Goodreads giveaway for THE ORDINARY. You have just over two days to do so!

Project Life

Years ago my sweet cousin introduced me to scrapbooking. She'd been doing it for years but I hadn't taken the plunge yet. My husband and I were both students at the time, and money was TIGHT! I worried about adding the expense to our already tiny budget. (Although, my husband encouraged it!)

Not long after our son passed, (you can read a little about that HERE) my cousin called and invited me to her weekly scrapbooking night. I took the prints I had of my little guy and headed to her house. I don't know that I've ever told her how much I appreciated those evenings we spent at her home. Those weeks that followed his death were so very, very dark. Grief is temperamental and some days it swallowed me whole.  Sitting in a room with her, my sister and cousins documenting his short life and the enormous impact he had on us was so therapeutic.  Our little group kept my head above water and I so appreciate them. They created a safe place for me to walk back into those experiences that were so tender, so miraculous and so devastating at the same time. She also generously shared her scrapbooking stash. I often wonder if I took advantage...I hope not but sure apologize if I did.

From that, my love of scrapbooking was born. I really did enjoy creating pages and watching our lives fill the pages of a binder on the shelf. After we adopted Kaleb, my time became more and more limited and my scrapbooking days dwindled. Years later they were pretty much nonexistent. I didn't have an hour to spend on each page, especially as we added more children to our family. Years were ticking by, and our photos were piling up. Documenting our lives was important to me and I couldn't seem to find a way to keep up with it all. I realized as time went on and my photos sat untouched longer and longer, I was FORGETTING. It was getting to the point where I could flip through our photo's and not remember exactly where we were or what we were doing. More importantly, I knew I was losing the feelings behind why I took the photo in the first place. That just added to my guilt.

In 2011, I discovered Project Life by Becky Higgins. I had "known" Becky (I didn't really know her although I would totally be her friend!) for a long time through the Creative Keepsakes magazine and her published books, so when I saw her new product (I'm not sure how long it had been out before I snatched it up) it was a no-brainer. It has changed. my. life. Not only have I been able to keep up on documenting our lives but I've been able to go back and catch up on years I've missed. The guilt is gone!

The first kit I purchased from Project life was a core kit and it came with beautiful, coordinated filler and journaling cards. The sheet protectors I chose had four 4x6 slots and four 2x3 slots on each page. (She has lots to choose from) I simply slipped my photos into the slots, journaled my memories about each photo on the 4x6 or 2x3 stylish journaling cards and added them in the appropriate spots. And done!

Since then Project Life has introduced a digital version so you can complete the pages with never printing a photo or physically writing on a piece of paper. I never did try digital but I signed up at lightning speed for the Project Life App when she released that. I've never gone back to paper although I still have a couple boxes of photos I need to do so eventually I will once again. Now I scrapbook from my iPad or phone when I'm watching TV, sitting in the car rider line or waiting for an appointment. Anytime I have a few minutes to kill I can pull out my phone and complete a page in no time at all. I no longer have to worry about losing photos. I create a project life page, print them and tuck them in my album.

Project Life has a way to print the pages from their app or order albums but I choose to print them at home. Our printer does a good job and it's the most economical way for me to do it right now. My pages are saved on my computer, so if I decide down the road to print them another way I certainly have that option.

I'm sharing all this with you today for one reason, though. (No this isn't a sponsored post. Becky Higgins has no idea who I am and will most likely never even see this post!) I've mentioned I never really expected to share my novel with anyone other than my immediate family. The roller coaster of emotions I went through as I pushed myself to put myself out there was intense. I didn't sleep for a few weeks after I clicked the "publish" button. No joke. Project life gave me an almost immediate way to document my feelings. It was all done within a day or two!

See!
These pages were created on the app on my phone. For each month I choose a different color background so I don't have to add the date to every page. This month was white. You can see different choices below.

Look at my baby! She's eight now. Time. slow. down. Below are the physical 12x12 albums. I slipped each photo and the cards in and done.

Kyleigh is so tiny, too! That bottom right photo? Sometimes when I would speak firmly to her she'd solute me and say, "yes, Ma'am!" Like, okay I see you are serious about this. Got it! :)

 This kid is driving now!

Below is one of my 8x8 albums. These pages were done with the Project Live app and printed at home on my personal printer. We have the HP Instant Ink program which allows me to print 300 copies a month with as much color as I want! It really makes printing these so economical and the quality is great.

This size (8x8) is so great for little hands. (These 8x8 albums are not Project life. My local craft stores don't carry that size and so I used these instead. They fit great.)

Excuse the poor lighting but this is the best reason to document! She giggled and giggled looking through our albums last night. I don't know why she brought the kitchen chair over, though. I guess to be closer to the pictures. Silly girl.

Breakfast Pizza

Poor time. No one seems to accept it for who it is. We are constantly asking it to hurry up...my daughter is almost twelve and cannot wait for that birthday. Twelve is a big number in our house. You get to start wearing makeup at twelve. Hurry up time.

On the other hand, my babies are growing so fast. Those newborn, sleepless nights are long gone and I have said at least a million times, please, time--slow down. It's all going too fast.

Traditions, for me anyway, seem to ease the pain of time. Traditions somewhat let us pause a cherished moment. Traditions are the ultimate walk down memory lane all while creating a few new memories along the way while bringing those you love the most right along with you. Traditions are time beating (really celebrating) superheroes. Yep. Sign. me. up.

Traditions come in all shapes and sizes. Some are big, loud, in-your-face-extravagant and others are so subtle you might not even realize they are a tradition until a little person in your house points it out. "We can't go to bed without reading! It's a TRADITION!" Silly me. I thought that was a routine. But, somewhere along the way it became just that for that little person in our home. Ok. Tradition it is.

Breakfast pizza is a subtle tradition in our home. I'm not sure where exactly it originated but my mom used to make it for us when I was a kid. It always takes me back to her kitchen when I make it. We loved that stuff and now my kids do, too. You may be wondering where exactly the tradition is in breakfast pizza. The tradition comes in the fact that we never actually eat it for breakfast. We may have growing up but here in the Richardson household, I don't believe I've ever made it for breakfast.

One aspect of writing The Ordinary Series that has been so fun for me is including some of our favorite traditions. Breakfast pizza is one of those that made its way into the series. I thought it might be fun to share the recipe here. It's super simple. PRINT RECIPE

Breakfast Pizza

1 egg                           1 cup regular pancake mix
¾ cup milk                  1 cup rice cereal
¼ cup oil                     cinnamon and sugar mix

Combine egg, milk, oil and pancake mix in a bowl; mix well until well blended. Pour into greased 12-inch pizza pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mix and cereal. Bake in preheated oven, 425 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until top springs back when lightly pressed.

*Note: I double the ingredients and use a cookie sheet to feed my crew. Hope you enjoy!

About Me

This will most likely be the most difficult post I write. It's much easier to write about just about anything else. But, I feel like it's a great place to start because if you're here, you want to learn more about me or (more likely) my books. Either way, I feel like I'm welcoming you into my home. And not just into the formal living room. More in a grand tour, stay for dinner, use the guest-room for as long as you'd like, kind of way! Stay. Chat a while. Tell me about you and I'll tell you a little about me and then...THEN we can talk about Natalie and Chris! Or Natalie and Jordan! And Julia! Or, if you want to skip the first and delve right into the books, I'm totally game for that, too! I now know the only thing better than watching the swimmings in my head take the shape of an adventure on paper is hearing about YOUR journey through the books. Yes, PLEASE. I want to hear it all!

Now that you're sitting on my proverbial sofa, let me tell you a little about myself. I grew up in Utah. In high school, my life was all about dance and one certain boy. The thrill of performing in front of a crowd dwindled when I left high school and realized pretty quickly college dancing was an entirely different ballgame. There has to be a better analogy for that! But, the boy? Well, that certainly didn't fade. I married that boy and we now have four children, a mortgage, a few extra pounds and a love that can't be compared to that high school love we shared. I remember standing next to him outside the temple (want to know more about that? Check out MY FAITH on the sidebar) while the photographer snapped pictures and I gazed up at him and wondered what life had in store for us. I knew it would be bumpy but like most new brides, I had no idea.

That sweet boy and I longed for a family and began that journey six months into our marriage. Infertility was an unwelcome, uninvited guest who took up residence in our lives for the next two years. We kicked him to the curb and welcomed our first son two years and 7 3/4 months later. Our little guy's life journey was a short one. He passed away soon after he was born. That will be a post for another day. But, that moment...that moment when I welcomed him and said goodbye changed me forever. He became my before and after moment.

And then that pesky infertility settled back in with a vengeance. Fertility treatments took a toll on my body, my mind, and our pocketbook. An easy decision was made. We would adopt. Three and a half years later we added another sweet little baby boy to our family through the miracle of a selfless woman who will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Four years after that we added a baby girl to our family and three and a half years after that another beautiful baby girl. Let's not forget two more amazing birthmothers as well.

Before I knew it, those tiny little babies grew and grew. Now the oldest is almost sixteen, the youngest is eight. Haha Kyleigh--I didn't really forget you. She is almost twelve. Only a fellow middle child can joke about that.

Life has been crazy busy and crazy beautiful. And sometimes, downright crazy hard. That's another post for another day as well but the funny thing about hard is there is always something amazing to discover through the hard. Writing has definitely been one of those amazing things. Writing is something I've always loved to do. I didn't set out to write a book. Well, maybe I did but I absolutely wasn't sure I could! I was pretty amazed at myself when I wrote ten pages! Can you imagine how I felt when I wrote almost 200? Beyond amazing!

You see, I have a confession. I'm pretty darn ordinary. I've struggled with feelings of inadequacy my entire life. I've let opportunities slip by because of that feeling (remember dance in college? I probably could have totally rocked that. But we will never know because I didn't try). Natalie was born out of that insecurity. She triumphs over her feelings of being just an ordinary Ordinary. And the fact that you're reading this? Well, that means I'm working on overcoming mine. Did you see all that throughout Natalie's journey? Did you FEEL that? I mean, I know this is a fun read. I wanted it to be a fun read. I wasn't really going for deep and profound. But when my daughters read it I want them to want to be like Natalie. I want them to find themselves and be ok with who they are and not worry about who they aren't. And I want that for you, too.

And yes, I want to hear all about that as well!

Sincerely,
        Karen

About The Ordinary Series

Book order:
                   The Ordinary, Book one
                   The Heir, Book two
                   The Time Between, Book three

The Ordinary Series was born out of a love of reading with my children. We've read to them since we brought them home from the hospital. It's always been a part of their routine. However, some nights we get home past bedtimes and sleep becomes slightly more important than reading. On those nights, I make up a story on the fly while they sleepily brush their teeth and change into pajamas.

Often those nights turned into the next night and the next because they wanted to hear more. I noticed my husband would hang around and even chuckle with the kids once in a while! He, my husband, has been my biggest support. He's encouraged me for YEARS to write. But, life is busy and I find myself putting my needs and wants at the bottom of the list. It's a mother thing. I'm working on it!

In my "About Me," I talk about life being crazy hard and how my writing was a great result of that crazy hard. Our son is a beautiful square peg that no matter how hard we all tried (he included) just couldn't make the round hole, public education system work for him. Not that teachers and administrators didn't help and work and fight for him almost as hard as I did. We've had some wonderful teachers throughout the years who have made such a difference in his life! Regardless, after much consideration and prayer, we decided to homeschool.

Well, that beautiful, brilliant, square peg of mine needs his momma close. He needs her to sit and redirect and not add to his distractions. Laundry is out. Sit. Be still. Be near. A momma can only plan so much and with only one student...well, there isn't a ton of grading. What's a girl to do? WRITE!

An idea had been hanging around in my head for a while. I wanted to write about fairies, but I didn't want them to be what we think of as traditional fairies. After reading the first little bit of my book to my son, I knew I needed to call them something different because they WERE different. He turned up his nose as soon as he knew my book was about fairies. Silly kid. I did some research and soon Essentials were born. Non-Essential's are called Ordinaries because, well they are ordinary in the eyes of Essentials.

It's difficult for an Ordinary to tell if another person is an Essential unless they go full Essential (wings out) or wield energy. There is energy in and around the earth that Essentials move creating prosperity or to destroy depending on intent. Their purpose, though, is to help the earth to flourish. In book two, The Heir, Natalie encounters the Dark. The Dark are Essentials who use the dark source of energy to wield and in doing so it changes their very nature as well as the physical nature of the earth.

Initially, I thought the storyline would follow Natalie's teaching experience within the Academy but for me, the writing process took on a life of its own! I would have an idea in my head and as I wrote I went a different direction. This kind of became an addicting part of the creative process for me! And no, I wasn't sure exactly how things were going to go. It ended up being a bit of a surprise for me as well!

While I wrote this with my kids in mind, I wanted to be entertained, too! Que love triangle. I kept this all PG because I wanted my daughter to read it, but the love story is there. The romance and drama are there. Also, something I have found so interesting is how people of ALL ages love the story. I'm hearing wonderful things literally from pre-teens, teens, early-twenties all the way up to 77!

I think I will leave you with a sincere, heartfelt thank you for reading my books and a short summary of each. Please feel free to contact me through the contact form on the sidebar or comment here with questions, concerns or comments! I'd LOVE to hear from you.  Oh, and I included things about my family throughout the book. My children's names are Kaleb, Kyleigh and Kambrie. Just knowing that sheds some light on some of those things! If you're interested in knowing more, just ask! Thank you, again!

The Ordinary Series includes:

#1 The Ordinary:

I opened my eyes and gasped. My shadow still stretched down the long drive, but rising from my shoulders were two, breathtaking wings. My shadow had wings! I tilted my head and watched them. They moved with each breath I took. I’d never wanted to be an Essential before, but for a moment I wished they were mine. -The Ordinary

Natalie knew her life would change when she agreed to immerse herself in the Essential world, but she could never have anticipated just how much. She came to teach Essentials about the Ordinary world and how to live undetected among them, but she didn’t realize how difficult living among Essentials would be. And then there’s him. The moment she saw him, something changed within her. He controls energy. It moves through him and for him. He is an Essential. She, an Ordinary, represents everything he despises. With upheaval in the surrounding kingdoms, Natalie’s days of teaching do not last long, and she finds herself in the middle of a violent search for the Ordinary heir to the throne. Haunted by a recurring dream, and caught between her Ordinary boyfriend and the Essential she is unexplainably drawn to, Natalie struggles to manage this new tumultuous world she has become a part of. She went to Kambrasia to teach Essentials how to live in the Ordinary world, but will she survive in theirs?

#2 The Heir:

Natalie knew when she took the job teaching fairy-like Essentials how to blend into the Ordinary world that she was stepping into a world far from her own. While she anticipated the unexpected, nothing could prepare her for what was to come. Her world was turned upside down, propelling her into an entirely new reality. Her teaching days behind her, Natalie struggles to find where she fits. She is an Ordinary existing in a world where she is surrounded by the extraordinary. She finds solace from the newfound pressures and horrific nightmares she’s plagued with in her fiancĂ© and is certain her life will settle once they are married. However, their plans to wed are deterred when Natalie’s future father-in-law cannot be found, resulting in delaying their big day indefinitely. Their search to find him reveals a twisted, dark, hidden past that puts Natalie and the ones she loves in grave danger. In this much-anticipated sequel to THE ORDINARY, Natalie fights. She fights for her identity. She fights for love and freedom. She fights the Dark. She fights for The Heir.

#3 The Time Between:

Believe it or not, Natalie has become somewhat accustomed to the unexpected living in the energy-filled, fairy-like, Essential world. She’s feeling more confident in her role in the kingdom she has come to love dearly. However, betrayal by the one person she least expected has rocked Natalie’s kingdom and shaken her to the core. With their enemy on the run and no leads to follow, centuries-old secrets are revealed with the hope it will finally bring an end to the Darks. Forced back into hiding, Natalie and her close friends find themselves in danger from unexpected sources. While Natalie is pretty used to the unexpected in her new world, nothing prepares her for another betrayal from the one Essential she thought she could trust—one who had never lied to her—she thought. In this conclusion of The Ordinary Series, will Natalie finally have her happy ever after, or will she and those she loves fall to the Darks once and for all?

This concludes The Ordinary Series #happyreading

COMING SOON

The Last Keeper tells Brie's story from The Time Between.

The Last Keeper

Brie had the misfortune of being born into one of four Keeper families charged from the beginning of time to protect a unique Keep. Their Keep come in all shapes and sizes, colors and temperaments, but anyone would argue, all wondrous, fascinating, and magical. At seventeen, Brie would gladly walk away from it all. She would do just about anything to find a way to live a typical teenage life where the only place she encountered dragons was in books. She is out of excuses for her many scrapes and bruises all thanks to her Keeper training and embarrassed she can’t seem to get her grades above a C. She is tired of hiding the biggest part of herself from her friends. She just wants to be normal. That’s not too much to ask, right?
