It's Not About Your Typical Fairy

Growing up, I was always really good at entertaining myself. My mom still comments how I would disappear for hours happily playing by myself in my room. I always had stories in my head. One particular day my chore was sweeping the kitchen. I was pulling the broom behind me pretending it was part of my long princess dress. My grandmother came into the room and snatched the broom from my hand and said, "that's the laziest way to sweep a floor that I've ever seen." She finished sweeping for me. Now, my grandma is THE definition of hard worker. She was a wonderful woman and such a great example to me and I wasn't upset then and certainly not now.

My point to all of this? This book is not about your typical fairy. Sure I used the same broom my grandmother did, but mine was a dress. Her's was a broom. When I think fairy, I picture Tinkerbell. A tiny, winged creature who lives in tulips and spreads joy through fairy dust. But Essentials are just like you and me. Except they wield energy and can grow wings out of their backs in the blink of an eye. Essentials, by nature, are nurturers. They keep energy moving throughout the world creating bounty and beauty. They live in the world parallel to you and me--Ordinaries. The fun and adventure come when the worlds collide!

Now, can one of you please convince my teenage son this is not about your typical fairy? It is so much more. He'll like it. I know he will. He gets his stubborn streak from his father. Ok. From me. He totally gets it from me.
